Self-Charging Cars – Dream Or Reality?
We are living in an era where development is at its peak. Every day we hear of strange discoveries,
researches and inventions that we wonder in shock about their existence. The world could not still realize the first fling car invented last year that another invention in the vehicle industry has left us all in the aftershock of wonders.
A team of students and teachers in Queensland University of technology in Brisbane recently invented the small electric cars that do not need to charge. No, I am not lying, there is no fuel and they are electric cars that you do not need to charge. You might be wondering how it is possible or may be considering me crazy or liar but this is truth and I am not crazy. These superficial cars have the ability to charge themselves. They get charged by their own body parts like doors, roof, bonnet etc. The first question that comes to our mind is, oh I know that must be solar energy. This is however not solar energy. This is all the capacitor game.We all have been studying about capacitors and super capacitors in physics at school or college level but this is something beyond the knowledge. The team have turned a super capacitor in to the car. This car gets the power by regular batteries that miraculously boost up the power of this magnificent car. They made a super capacitor that they call a sandwich because it contains an electrolyte between two all carbon electrodes. They made this compressed in the form of a very thin film with high density.
This film can be embedded in the car parts like roof, doors and bonnet etc. and can boost up the power of the car with the help of a regular lithium ion battery. The creator of this technique told the press that it is highly efficient and based on the fundamental principles of physics and capacitance. He told that there is a high probability that this technology will be used in future for a quick charging of electronic devices like laptops and cell phones. This entire research was published in Power Sources and the Nanotechnology journal.
The team is very happy for their invention and believe that inventions like these are needed to make the world an efficient place to live in. The car is smart in shape, light and have two seats. However they say that car is not dependent on shape and size. After a full charge, the car can travel up to 500 km like similar to the cars that are powered by petrol. This is double in performance when compared to nay normal electric car.The students and teachers are still conducting tests and researches to add improvements and published their work in different international journals. They have proved that there is nothing that cannot be achieved. Scientists like Faraday, Newton and Ohm told us the basic fundamentals of physics and electronics. It’s out mind that helps us to think about their application to achieve something miraculous.
