4 Additional Features found on Mozilla’s New Firefox 34.0.5 Browser
Early December, 2014, Mozilla launched the new iteration of Firefox browser, version 34.0.5. This latest version comes with additional features and is designed to run on Mac, Windows, Android and Linux platforms. As it launched the new Firefox version, Mozilla disabled SSLv3.0 that was used on mobile and desktop platforms following Google’s discovery of a security bug on the version in October, 2014. Firefox 34 is readily available and can be downloaded from Firefox.com. Current users can upgrade their browsers automatically. Android users can trickle the Android version from Google Play. Some of the new features integrated in Firefox 34 are in-built video chat and an overhauled search bar. Here are the biggest additions that you can expect to find in then newly launched Firefox 34.0.5 browser:
1. Firefox Hello
Firefox Hello is the biggest additional feature on this new desktop platform version. Firefox Hello is a Web Real-Time Communication – WebRTC - calling element that is powered by Telefonica, a Spanish carrier. Mozilla introduced WebRTC features for the first time in Firefox 33 beta. This feature enables users to make free video and voice calls without having to download extra plugins or software, or even sign up a new account. Mozilla has gone ahead and partnered with Telefonica to provide users with a global communication system that is directly built into a browser. Firefox Hello is fired by OpenTok communications platform directly from TokBox, a company that belongs to Telefonica.
2. Search Engine Shifting to Yahoo
The other prominent feature on the new Firefox 34 is the default search engine shifting feature. Mozilla recently collaborated with Yahoo. The company has gone ahead to include an automatic default change to yahoo search engine on the Firefox 34 version. The default search engine is however limited to North America in the meantime. For regions like Kazakh, Belarusian and Russian locales, there has been a change in default search engine to Yandex.
3. An Improved Search Bar
Firefox 34 comes with a better search bar that uses US English only. This new, improved search back is easy to customize. Using customizing mode, you can switch themes easily. The browser’s ability to recover in the event of a browser crash has been enhanced and it is designed to use HTTPS in Wikipedia searches for safe browsing. A few addition changes have been made on the HTML5 mode and there are several changes for develops as well available on Mozilla Website, Release Notes section.
4. Tab Mirroring Feature
For Android users, Firefox 34 introduces a new feature that allows mirroring browser tab support for Chromecast so that users can see the same tabs that are open on their mobile phone on a TV screen. The browser shares the similar Wikipedia search HTTPS as its desktop version together with key pinning support, new browser themes and the latest first run experience. Mozilla has also disables SSLV3.0 for Android platforms as well. For Android, Firefox 34 helps fix MP4 video issues experienced on Android 5.0 Lollipop. However, the browser does not have the Firefox Hello chat feature. This feature is expected in later Firefox 34 for Android updates.
